Early Years Foundation Stage

The nursery follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) a single quality framework to support children's learning and development from birth to five years. The EYFS is made up of seven areas of learning and development. All areas are connected to one another and are equally important.

The areas of learning and development are:

•Personal, Social and Emotional Development

•Communication and Language

•Literacy

•Expressive arts and design

•Physical development

•Understanding the world

•Mathematics

We are committed to offering a wide range of learning experiences relevant to each individual child. We believe if a child is happy and enjoying what they are doing, the environment is optimised for learning.

The staff lay out a variety of activities that encourage the children to develop emotionally, physically and intellectually. These include role play, equipment,  construction activities, puzzles and creative activities are available for the children to join in with on a daily basis: free painting, malleable play cutting and sticking.

Children will learn about a variety of festivals, cultures and religions as part of the EYFS Framework

All children are helped in developing a love of books, we have a nursery library for children to take story books home to share with parents. The pre-school and Toddler children take reading books home to extend their learning.

At Children's Corner we believe in Playing music throughout the day. Music provides a fantastic source of entertainment and stimulation for young children. It will also give your child a sense of rhythm, language and memory. The nursery encourages the children to listen to a variety of music ranging from classical, traditional nursery rhymes and music from around the world. Different types of music is played at different times of the day. As children arrive we play calm welcoming music. During play and activity times we play more upbeat fast music. And during rest times we play soothing classical music.
